Grace turns the tables | © Fola Daniel Adelesi

Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?” This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear.
Joh 8:5 – 6 NKJV

One of the beautiful things that Grace does is to turn the tables against things and those who have legal grounds against you. When you enjoy the grace of God, you may not be perfect and may have done some things wrongly. Consequences can be starring you in the face but when grace speaks, the tables turn.

In John chapter 8, we saw a woman that was supposedly caught in the act of adultery. Only the woman was brought to Jesus and by some miracle, the man was not brought but they claimed the woman was caught in the act. Going by the law of Moses, the woman was to be stoned to death but the accusers of this woman wanted Jesus to speak.

That was the greatest mistake of their lives. Jesus is the only person that can condemn but he doesn’t even condemn but gives grace. The accusers of the woman were waiting for an opportunity to stone her to death, Jesus, the greatest advocate, was preparing his defence from the view of grace.

When He spoke, he requested that anyone without sin should cast the first stone. At that time, everyone just started leaving one after the other until there were no accusers anymore. Then Jesus looked up and asked, ‘where are thy accusers?’ Jesus helped that woman escape death and turned the tables against the accusers. At that point when they all began to leave one after the other, they simply admitted that they had their own sins in their lives.

Grace turned the table for Moses as well. When he died, the devil wanted to claim his body but grace spoke up and rebuked the devil. I pray that the grace of God will not only turn the tables for you, it will promote you in Jesus name.

The grace that the woman accused of adultery experienced was double fold. First, she was forgiven and her accusers dispersed. The next was that she became one of the really close associates of Jesus throughout his ministry here on earth. This was an adulterer who received grace. You would have thought it should end there since she was forgiven. Why would she also come close to Jesus? Many would want to know what an adulterer was doing with the saviour of the world? The truth is that she was forgiven and made a partaker in the ministry of Jesus.

God will show you double grace in Jesus name. The tables of life, by God’s double grace, will turn in your favour in Jesus name.
