In the Kingdom today, the consciousness of battles has taken away the consciousness of worship. If we live in a real Kingdom and understand how it works, then we must understand that there are warriors in every domain so not everybody is allowed to go to war because the kingdom has to keep running. When everybody goes to war the kingdom will suffer and all the activities that should be carried out will have to stop. The enemy may even invade the kingdom because it is foolishness for everybody to go to war.
When we make worshipping God our focus then God himself will ensure that His word comes alive in every situation. Jeremiah said, ‘but the LORD is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten. This is a verse of scripture that excites me and when you get excited about a verse of scripture it means that you have an understanding of its potency and you believe it will work for you. Look at the calamity laid out for the enemy in that verse without Jeremiah having to fight! All he needed to do was to take a stand with God so he said, the Lord is with me as a mighty terrible one.’
Sometimes we start doing the fighting ourselves because we have become so conscious of the battle that we forgot the Lord is with us. Thank God Joshua was smart enough to know that the Lord was with him and that he didn’t have to do the fighting with his men. He only needed to coordinate his men and still win without fighting!
God wants you to win but you have to put your focus on him because the battle is not yours. You should never forget that He is always there at the right time or at the nick of time as some would say to contend with those who contend with you. I remember we used to sing a song with the lines, ‘stand by me, stand by me, blessed saviour stand by me, for I have no strength nor power of my own, blessed saviour stand by me.’ You cannot ask God to stand by you and all you do is to keep him as a spectator in your battles. You really have to mean it when you ask Him to stand by you and you must step back when it’s time for battle.
Jesus said, ‘in this world you shall have tribulations, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.’ He is the one who overcame and shared his victory with you so you can always stand in line with the victory of Jesus to secure new ones. You have been fighting cancer, HIV/AIDS, ulcer, dyslexia and tuberculosis or whatever it is all alone so it will not go! You have been fighting your unemployment and poverty alone so you will fight until you run out of strength!
Before you run out of strength let me suggest you say, according to the word of God, my persecutors – cancer, poverty, unemployment, HIV/AIDS – shall stumble and they shall not prevail. His word says He will contend with those who contend with me. Worship Him by your faith in the word and let Him step into the battle!
