But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. (KJV) – Romans 8:11
And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! This is what the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15:17. In verse 14, it says, ‘And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty.’ The good news is that he is risen and we are sure of that.
So our faith is not empty and it is not futile because of the certainty of the fact about Jesus being raised from the dead. Praise God! We do not serve a dead God! HE is alive and the power of the grave could not hold him down. Acts 2:24 says, ‘it was not possible that he should be held by death.’
After Christ was raised from the dead, he showed himself to his disciples and to a multitude before he was taken up so the fact that he was raised is not debatable. However, there is a power that raised him from the dead.
As children of God, rather than become entangled with all the debates about doctrines, it is very important to get into the power of God – the power that raised Jesus up. When this power works in us, nothing can die. Everything that was dead before the power got there will begin to come alive.
See what the scripture says is Romans 8:11. ‘But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.’
You must know that the Spirit of God represents the move of the power of God. So if the Bible talks about the Spirit of God dwelling in you, it is also talking about the power of God dwelling in you and quickening your mortal bodies. What does it mean to quicken your mortal bodies? New King James says, ‘it will give life.’ Amplified Bible says, ‘it will restore to life your mortal bodies’
The way the Message Bible tries to explain it is that this power will do to you what it did to Jesus. It will make alive your bodies just as it made alive the body of Christ. So you must understand that the power that was at work in Jesus is also available to work in you. Just as it raised Jesus up, it will also raise you up. The way the grave could not hold Jesus down, nothing will be able to hold you down.
The power that is at work in you is too powerful for you to be held down by circumstances, sickness, diseases and all sort of things that want to work against your bodies. If the power of God can raise Jesus from the dead, there is nothing coming up in your body that the power of God cannot kill totally so that life can be restored to you.
If you have truly accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, from today, the same power that was at work in him and gave him power over the grave will work in you and give you total victory. The power of God will quicken – make alive – your mortal bodies and raise you up in Jesus name.
