Then the king said to Haman, “Hurry, take the robe and the horse, as you have suggested, and do so for Mordecai the Jew who sits within the king’s gate! Leave nothing undone of all that you have spoken.” – Esther 6:10 NKJV.
One of the most interesting stories we have in the Bible has to do with how God can change the level of someone, that ought to be an outcast or generally forsaken even though living among the people, within the twinkle of an eye.
It took less than twenty four hours to move Joseph from the prison to the palace. Rehab, the popular harlot, in one night stopped being the harlot and got the privilege to stand in the lineage of the Lord Jesus.
In Judges 11:3, we also saw the story of Jephtah written as ‘Then Jephthah fled from his brothers and dwelt in the land of Tob; and worthless men banded together with Jephthah and went out raiding with him.’ That was a part of his story but something new happened and his people needed him to fight for them. Then he negotiated his terms before going to fight for them and after the fight, an outcast became a king.
In our text for today, we saw Mordecai who was a gate keeper and a stranger in the land getting into trouble with one of the big men in town. What caused the trouble? He simply refused to bown to the big man and the big man (Haman) became very offended.
Haman was bent on punishing Mordecai so much so that he wanted to wipe out all the people who were related to him. He started plotting this evil thing and was just waiting for the right time to execute.
Just as Haman was plotting his own evil, God was plotting his own promotion for Mordecai. While Haman was going around and trying very hard to kill Mordecai, God was also disturbing the king to visit the record book. As Haman was finalising plans to kill Mordecai, God had already concluded plans to elevate him in a strange land.
Remember that Mordecai was reffered to as the Jew. That tells you he was a stranger but when God was to do something new in his life, nobody remembered he was a stranger. So a stranger who was a ‘gateman’ became the second in command in the land.
To you, I decree that in every place where evil is being plotted against you, God will overturn it with his good plans for you. He says in Jeremiah 29:11 that He knows the thoughts that he thinks towards you. He says they are thoughts of good and not of evil; to give you a future and an expected end.
God saw that Mordecai was about to be destroyed so he did something new in his life and took him to the level where he was untouchable. May God do something new in your life. I pray he will take you to that level where those plotting against you will not be able to touch you. From today, you shall begin to experience new levels. Those you have considered as ‘out of your class’ because you can only watch them from a distance or because of their wealth will soon become your peers. You will start sitting in the assembly of great men. Whatever has restrained you or has made it impossible for something new to happen and move you to new levels will be overturned!
Expect God’s move in your life that will shift you to a new level in Jesus name.
