According to His word – 14 | Fola Daniel Adelesi, ASM, ACL, WCC

It feels so good and great to be free according to the word of God because His word says, ‘having cancelled the bond which stood against us with its legal demands; this he set aside, nailing it to the cross.’ – Colossians 2:14 (Revised Standard Version)

I am free, according to His word, and no longer under any bondage. Yes, I broke some laws and those laws have some legal demands from me because I broke them in the first place. Some of those laws could have even come with curses that used to have some power over my life. You could have broken some laws that have placed a curse over you but we now have good news. Someone looked at us and realized that there is no way we can be free if we have to bear the burden of the curses ourselves. The laws have such a great demand that the son of God had to come down to take the burden off us.

Now His word says, ‘having cancelled the bond which stood against us with its legal demands.’ Another version says, ‘blotting out all handwriting of ordinances.’ As for me, I strongly believe the word of God and the word of God says I am free so I am free! I see a lot of people trying to go back to the cross to remove what God nailed to the cross for them and they want to carry it all about. How can you be under a curse when the word of God says the ordinances against you have been blotted out! God took it and you are free, according to His word, if you are already a child of God.

Stop acting like a slave from now on. You have been set free by the word of God and the only thing you have to do is to believe that the word actually has the power to set you free! It’s like saying there are viruses in our bodies. We may have carried the viruses for some time but the antivirus that is stronger than the viruses has been placed right in front of us! Some of us took the antivirus immediate and some others are debating the potency of the antivirus.

The word of God is right in front of you as an antivirus that no virus can overpower or escape. Now the antivirus (word of God) in me says I am clean! There’s no virus again! There are no ordinances against me again anymore. I stand straight and clean after being scanned by the word of God.

Thank God you and I don’t have to struggle to get ourselves out of entanglements anymore. All we need to know is that we are free from the ordinances against us because Jesus nailed them to the cross.

From the Revised Standard Version, the Bible says, ‘… this He set aside.’ This means the ordinance used to be a legal obstacle right in front of us. Whenever we start walking, our offences will trigger the obstacles and they will ask us to pay the dues for the offence we committed but the Bible says, ‘this He set aside.’ Now the ordinance has no legal right to even stop us when we are walking! Isn’t it good to know the word sets us free!
