According to His word – 16 | Fola Daniel Adelesi, ASM, ACL, WCC

“Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” – Luke 12; 6&7. This is one of the best assurances that we have as children of God that we can never be forgotten even when the situation around presents a scenario of being neglected.

I like the fact that Jesus uses the illustration of sparrows to tell us how valuable we are to God! He talks about the price of five sparrows and then says that not one of them is forgotten by God. If a sparrow is not forgotten by God then we need to ask how possible it is for God to forget the creature that is in His own image. He even goes further to tell us that the very hairs of our head are numbered. The implication of ‘the very hairs of our head are numbered’ is that God pays attention to every small detail concerning us. We may not know about all the details that He is paying attention to or how high God holds us but we must now know that by the insight of our hairs being numbered, God can never forget us.

As human beings we sometimes think we have been neglected because we expect to have something done or we expect that miracles will happen in some areas for us but they seem not to be happening. You may be expecting a miracle baby or a miracle job. You may have thought that you have been in a position for a long time and you need to get promoted but you seem to have been forgotten. Someone else reading this right now may be thinking about the battles he or she has been fighting with health challenges and probably thinks, ‘when will God remember me?’ I make bold to say that God pays attention to the details of your life so much so that the hairs of your head are number and with that you have the assurance that you were not forgotten in the first place.

As human beings we usually want things to happen really fast and sometimes we want them in an instance but we must come to terms with the fact that we live within time so things will happen within time for us. Apart from the fact that things will happen within time for us, we must also know that there are things God has already done that many people are not aware of because they cannot see the form in which it is appearing. With this I have to say that we must not only pray for things to happen and expect God to do them, we also need to ask God to give us insight such that when what we are praying for happens in a different dimension and appearing in a different package, we will not miss them

According to His word, we are of more value than many sparrows so it means that we can never be forgotten but we must have enough insight to see what is happening and how God is answering our request because He does not always answer our request in the exact stereotype way we always expect him to. There are things you ask God to do and you just need physical eyes to know it has been done but for others, you need spiritual insight to see answers.
