According to His word – 2 | Fola Daniel Adelesi, ASM

‘Why do you say things will get better?’ Some people may be asking. ‘For several years we have been saying it is well, it will get better and it will change but nothing has happened!’

Well I know everybody is talking but not everybody is engaging the heart in the talk and we must ask what authority the people speaking depend on. When Jesus what preaching some people came to him simply to know the authority by which he operated. We know that He operated by the authority in the word of God so people who have been speaking may not be operating in the word of God!

‘Ok, do you think it will get better?’ Your answer will be, ‘yes! It will not only get better, it will be very colourful. I know this because I speak by the authority in the word of God and not in the lips of men. His word says, ‘but the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.’ (Proverbs 4:18). Another version says, ‘but the way of the upright is like the light of early morning, getting brighter and brighter till the full day (BBE).

With these I need no other conviction that things can only get better for me even when other think that things are hard and they have not changed in a long time. When people start arguing and they say, ‘but it has been like this for years!’ Well it depends on who is looking and where you are looking from! I live by the word of God and according to His word my path is as a shining light that shines more and more. If the word of God is true then it can’t be true that I have been in the same situation all along. Others may not make progress even if they are Christians and they have regular church attendance year in year out! For me it is a different case because it is the word of God that does the magic.

The implication of this word also comes to the fact that some people may be suffering and I may be in the same environment with them but they will look at me and never see any trace of suffering. You and I may be earning an amount known to some of our colleagues but according to the word of God that is at work in us, they will see us and say, ‘I thought we earn the same amount of money!’ They will definitely say this when the word is at work in your life because you live by the word and not necessarily by your salary. It is only the word that can turn your two loaves and five fish salary into something else that leaves you with twelve baskets.

I make bold to say that nothing works apart from the word and this is a statement you will see from time to time in this series. You are in a world created by the word so you must create a new world for yourself by the word of God in your mouth and not the word in your head. You can have the word of God in your head but it does not make a difference. You can only turn your life around when you start saying, no matter the situation, according to the word of God concerning my life, my path is as a shining light that shines more and more. God cannot lie so he knows what he was saying when He said that my path is as a shining light. I can only make progress!
