Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest. – 2 Kings 4:7
I don’t think it is just a coincidence that we will be talking about floodgates of heaven at a time when we are already talking about the best for the last.
One of the best ways anyone can end up or wrap the year is to experience the floodgates and I pray that will be your experience as well in Jesus mighty name.
The verse of scripture that we have above started with the following lines in the preceding verses: ‘A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the LORD. And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves.’ – 2 Kings 4:1
This woman was in a terrible situation. She had lost her husband. That is bad enough but coupled with that is the fact that her husband owed before he died. The situation didn’t stop there because the creditors did not even look at the fact that this woman had lost her husband.
They wanted their money at all cost and they decided the next thing to do was to take the woman’s sons as slaves. Can you imagine what the woman would be going through?
She was in a desperate situation and desperately needed God to intervene in the situation so she ran to the man of God. Interestingly, the man of God did not even pray. He only gave instructions. He first asked what she had at home. This woman was going to say she had nothing but suddenly remembered she had a jar of oil.
That jar of oil seemed little and insignificant. If it was considered important, that woman would not have forgotten she had it somewhere in the house. She went to borrow jars of oil as instructed by Prophet Elisha.
As soon as she began to pour the oil into the borrowed containers, something unexpected happened. The small jar of oil (which represented scarcity) began to pour endlessly into the big jars of oil! That means the floodgates of heaven had opened unto this woman and her children.
She ran back to the man of God to explain what had happened and the man of God told her to go and sell the oil, pay her debt and live on the rest of the proceeds!
What a turn around? A debtor whose children would be taken as slaves in place of her debt now had more than enough to pay her debt and also became an entrepreneur! As you are reading this, your own story will also turn around. God will send you the instructions that will open the floodgates of heaven before you. You will go from being a debtor to being a giver.
Everything that represents scarcity in your life will turn to abundance in the precious name of Jesus. In this period when we expect the best for the last, you will begin to see even the best that you never imagined. So shall it be in Jesus matchless name.
According to 2 Kings 4:7, just as the widow went from being a debtor to having abundance, the floodgates of heaven will open to me and change my situation in Jesus name.
