For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth. – Isaiah 62:1 KJV
Just as we are crying out that God should arise for us and lift up his hands, we should also note that our God is not a wicked God. He is such a loving father that knows every need that we have even before we speak and is certainly doing something about those needs. ‘(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.’ – Matthew 6:32 KJV
It is an earthly father that will see some needs in the lives of his children and may not be able to do anything about it. An earthly father may see his child suffering and may not be able to do anything. He may see his children dying and will only cry out to God.
Thankfully, we have a father in heaven who is far bigger than our earthly father and does not have the limitations of our earthly father. Before we need something, he already knows and can do all that we ask for according to Ephesians 3:20.
According to the anchor text above, God was speaking to Zion, just as I believe he is also speaking to you and I today, that he will not rest. When God says he will not rest for our sake then you you can go and rest. Do you know what it means for God to say he will not rest for your sake? All your enemies are in trouble. Every long standing issue against you is also in trouble. God will make sure that he takes care of every need that you are crying about before he rests.
When God arises, and says he will not rest for your sake, you should no that no situation will escape. God will certainly take care of all those troubling situations. Those issues may have caused you some embarrassments. Those issues you are facing may have lingered for too long. Sometimes it may even appear as though there is no hope for you over those issues. You are just waiting for each day to pass and probably wondering, once in a while, if God is interested in your case. I can assure you that God is interested in that case, no matter how insignificant it seems to you.
Now you should see that God is not only interested, he has said that he will not rest until you are taken care off and your situations turns to joy. God will certainly arise for you and when he arises, he will fight for you. A clear understand of what Isaiah 62: 1 is saying can be seen in Exodus 14:14 where the Bible says, ‘The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.’
In Exodus 14, it was Moses telling the people not to worry that God will arise for them. The people were so terrified by the appearance of the Egyptians. They had just managed to escape from the Egyptians and those Egyptians were coming back again. You will understand their fears when you see what they went through in Egypt.
Maybe like the Israelites you have been seeing some recurring troubles and you are scared again. Now, God has said he will not rest. Just like he arose for the Israelites, he will arise for you in Jesus mighty name.
