Well, that may sound very funny to some and a few others may be a little curious and wonder when the New Year starts. You and I can’t argue the fact that the New Year, on calendar, will start on the first day of January, but for productive people, it is not so.
If you wait till the first day in the first month to realize that you are in a New Year, then you have already wasted some moments that you may never regain. You have already lost some time that should be spent planning.
Take a look at your nation for example, or some multinational corporations that operate in your country. From September of the outgoing year, many of the big corporations would have been telling you that they have closed their budget for the year. Most likely they would have started working on their budget for the next year or it would have been ready for approval by the board of the company.
Why don’t they wait till the last few days in December or even the New Year before they start working on that budget? It is because they know the importance of place and the advantage that it comes with.
With that kind of planning, they already know what they will be doing, one year in advance. Some of these things may not be perfect or cast in concrete but it still goes a long way in giving direction to what the organisation will be doing.
This is exactly what you also have to do. If you plan in advance what you intend to achieve, you will always give yourself that edge regarding the resources you need to raise and where you can raise it from.
You will also be able to organise your time some more and see how you make the most of the seemingly short or inadequate time that you have.
For people who are very productive, they don’t wait until the New Year to start making plans. They make their plans in the previous year and just can’t wait until the New Year to start executing their plans.
As soon as it is the first day, while others are still basking in the euphoria of the New Year, there are many people who have hit the ground running with their plans.
If you didn’t know this before now, let me say that there is no time that is too early or too late to start getting ready for a New Year. You know some plans that you can still achieve in this year and you know the ones that you can no longer achieve this year. Try as much as you can to achieve all your plans for this year but if you can’t, start with them in the New Year.
One other huge advantage of having the plans ready for the following year is the fact that you may get to a level and realise that those plans for next year can still be achieved this year. When you see that, you go ahead and get it done so it is a plus for you that year and it means you are moving faster.
Your New Year begins the day you start making very concrete plans for the following year. Now that you know, don’t always wait for the first day in the New Year. Start now and follow through with your plans.
