No immunity against mistakes | © Fola Daniel Adelesi

When next you want to quickly pass a judgement on another person, just ask yourself if you have never made a mistake in your life before. It is at moments like this that I remember the statement of ‘cast the first stone if you are without sin.’

You can’t say that you have not been in one trouble or the other as a result of your own mistake. You have no immunity against mistakes. We all can make mistakes and make a mess of an entirely good situation. We are not perfect people.

There are time we even think that we have it all figured out and everything will work perfectly well. We just wait for all the great plans to turn out well. Sometimes it looks like all is going according to plan and suddenly something starts to show up. It could be something expected at first and before you know it, things are changing and it is no longer what you expect.

You may have made a mistake with the choice of the man that you married. You may have made a mistake with the choice of woman that you married. For some others it is the choice of career path that they chose when they were starting out in life when they actually have passion for something else. Now they are frustrated by their career and their passion will not let them rest. a few others think that it just might be too late for them to start on the path of passion and they know all the price they still have to pay. That’s a bit hard now because they also need the money that the career is bringing.

What do you now do when what you have in your hands is not what you want? Do you just throw it away and conclude that all is not working well and it will never turn out well? I don’t think you should do that. There must be something you can do. You can make the most of even the worst situations and the bad cases turning out of your mistakes can still offer you something.

I think that one of the greatest things you can do in life is to first recognize that you have no immunity against mistakes. When you do, there will be no ego in you pushing you around as a perfectionist. So long that that ego of expecting to be perfect is not there then you are on your way to the first significant progress that you can ever make after making mistakes.

Some people make mistakes and the next thing they are thinking about is ‘how many people saw the mistakes that they made.’ Should you be more concerned about who saw you or how to fix the mistakes?’ that’s part of the ego issue for some and for others it just could be another trace of identity crisis.

You have made the mistake and it is your life, not theirs. You are about to make another mistake if you let the perception of people determine how you handle the present mistake that you have made. Take your mind of the reactions of people. Face your own mistakes. Ask yourself what you wanted before you made the mistake. What can you do to get back on the track that you started from? That is the more important thing and you need to thread on that path.

If you need help with your mistakes please do not hesitate to ask for help. Talk to people who can help or those who can guide you. That way, you can move on from the mistake and still make the most of the situation.

Remember that you have no immunity against mistakes. Work around the things that you need to do. It’s okay to make your mistakes where you can’t avoid it. In all of this, the more important thing is what you make after making the mistakes. So go on, do what you have to do. If you make mistakes, make the most it and never think you have any immunity against mistake at any level in your life.
