How a seed brought my wife to me | © Fola Daniel Adelesi

About two years back when I was posted to Sokoto State, Nothern Nigeria, for National Youth Service Corps, I did make up my mind to get something meaningful out of the one year programme and in retrospect I think I did not only get something meaningful but have also got something I will keep for the rest of my life! This is also true because an act of generosity opened up a channel for me to meet the women who in two days from now will officially be my wife!

I met a young beautiful lady called Olufunsho in my platoon (platoon 6) when we were supposed to go out one afternoon for parade on the field. She was talking to another young gentlemen (I later found out that the other young man had been in the same tertiary institution with her and in the same fellowship) when I interrupted their conversation. Let’s just say I got interested in the conversation and I joined but I noticed the reservation of Olufunsho also popularly called Funsho. She probably didn’t like the fact that I came into the conversation uninvited but I continued and when she heard some of my meaningful contributions, she began to open up a little.

One thing that struck me about this young lady just before I joined the conversation was just her height, bright fair skin, neat dimples and sparkling white shirt. As much as I would now confess that those things got my attention, I never imagined a love relationship with this person. As a natural Sanguine, I am gifted at meeting people and establishing a relationship with so many people so I just thought it was going to be one of them. Well before that conversation ended that afternoon, I did something a little funny. I wanted to know the lady’s name but couldn’t just ask at that time so I took advantage of the fact that she is taller than me, bent down a little and checked out her name under the NYSC cap that she was wearing. I got it! Mission accomplished! That was it for that day!

The following day our paths crossed in church so I called out the name I had been a little shy to ask the previous day. She was a little surprised so I helped her by asking, ‘are you surpirised I know your name?’ ‘I told you yesterday,’ she replied. ‘No didn’t, I quickly reminded her. ‘How then did you know my name?’ ‘I bent down and checked under your cap yesterday,’ I replied.’ That sounded very funny to her but I was too much into my Sanguine nature to realize if what I did and confessed was okay. The important thing was that I wanted a friend and now the friendship has started.

Just a couple of days later there was a robbery case in some of the female hostels and my new friend’s phone was stolen. We got talking and she mentioned it. I think I became genuinely restless ever since she mentioned it! I kept asking myself, how can I have two mobile phones when one person’s phone has been stolen? I was about to give an excuse that I really needed the smaller phone because the big phone’s battery would go flat quickly but I had not peace in me for that excuse so I went out one afternoon to get a bucket of water and saw Funsho, my new friend, again. This is time I could not hold it any longer so I said to her, ‘I have a smaller phone I use just in case the battery of the bigger phone goes flat. I’ll charge the battery properly so that you can at least have something to use. Meet me at the OBS (Orientation Broadcasting Service) studio later in the afternoon to pick up the phone.

We met as agreed and she collected the phone. I did not tell her how she was going to get in touch with me to return the phone after the camp. I did not give her my phone line and deliberately did not ask her phone number even though I had expected her to retrieve the stolen phone line. The generosity meant much to her but I did not know how much! I just noticed that she kept coming back to the studio each time she was free and we would talk a lot. She would thank me for coming to her aid and then we talked about the platoon 6 we both belonged to.

I should say that we talked about a lot and got closer every day. The rest is history because we are now talking about getting married in 2 days’ time! I could have held unto that phone and probably would have lost a wife but I let it go and now, I have the phone and a wife!

NB: Our wedding is slated for 23rd & 24th of March 2012. This piece was published online on 22nd of March 2012.

Breaking the shackles from fear of the unknown | © Fola Daniel Adelesi

Too many people enter several important phases of their lives without an entry plan and an exit strategy and unfortunately, without those two, you are certain to be stuck in life and constantly think that you do not have choices. When I hear people declaring that they do not have choices about a situation in their lives, I simply see people who have deprived themselves of their mental rights to make choices and are living with the physical consequences.

When I went to the Daystar Leadership Academy a few years back in Lagos, Nigeria, one of the most important things that struck me from one of our facilitators was the fact that he said, ‘as soon as I’m entering an organization I create my exit strategy.’ That got me thinking! It simply means that he does not just enter and organization without a plan to leave the same organization and he said this was very important since he was not the owner of the organization and the owner can just wake up one day and decide that he tired of seeing your face so you have to go. Ever since I heard that statement I have always lived with the mindset that it is important to create an exit strategy almost as soon as you enter an organization or even before you enter the organization.

Before we even talk too much about the exit strategy I should say that some people do not even have an entry plan and that is the beginning of their troubles! In some of my subsequent series I will talk more about creating an entry plan and an exit strategy but we should look briefly at the purposes of these plans! I have seen people who have been able to stay in organizations for more than 10 years and apart from the fact that they are growing older or lucky enough to get regular promotions, they cannot mention some significant progress that they have made in life! Some people believe that they are not making progress because:

  1. The job is too demanding
  2. Their boss is wicked
  3. Salaries are not being increased
  4. There are no allowances
  5. There are some external and spiritual factors affecting their progress in life!

The other side is that some people believe they cannot leave their present organizations because:

  1. They do not know where to start from if they leave
  2. Jobs are scarce so they may not get another job easily
  3. There is not enough money to start a new business
  4. Job security is important so I still have to stay here till another opportunity comes
  5. A few others just can’t leave because they can’t tell their superiors they are leaving!

What I think about all of this is that you are right when you say you can and you are also right when you say you can’t! The answers above will always be true when you do not have a plan so what’s the way out?

  1. Before you enter an organization or a new phase in your life, create a plan.
  2. Let the plan contain how you are going to contribute your quota, if possible, how much.
  3. Have a plan that talks about how you will develop yourself through that organization.
  4. Include a financial plan that will state what you must achieve financially while you are there in the organization.
  5. Include a networking arrangement in your plan. You must improve the richness of your net worth through your network and it is a deliberate thing!

The other plan tilts towards your exit strategy and they may include:

  1. What will you do if you are fired? You MUST answer this question almost immediately you start jubilating about the new job and if you have not, you can still do that.
  2. You don’t own the business so where will you go from here?
  3. How will you implement your plan either before you get fired or when you get fired?

You will have to visit www.foladaniel.com from time to time to get the subsequent series on this issue because I cannot deal with it in just one piece but the first and the most important thing to do in order not to remain a corporate slave or a slave in any other kind of job that you are in is to always have a plan about how to build yourself, make yourself more relevant and what you can do outside of that organization! Without these plans, you are bound to leave with the fear of the unknown!

Demystifying ‘Fear of the unknown’ | © Fola Daniel Adelesi

Bookmark and Share

For several years I have heard so many people talk about ‘fear of the unknown’ and it’s something they say when they have not taken a step that needs to be taken or when it is obvious they are tired of where they are. If you get an opportunity to meet with so many people in the corporate world, you will find out that they are not enjoying their jobs and when asked why they have not resigned, some will tell you it’s because of fear of the unknown. Having heard this statement for so long, I began to wonder what it really means and also decided to demystify it so that some people can break away from it. We must recognize that ‘fear of the unknown’ is not just a type of fear but a big shackle that so many people are trying hard on daily basis to free themselves from.

Fear of the unknown has kept some people from getting married even though they have all that is physically needed to get married and they also have regular incomes. Fear of the unknown has kept some parents from resigning their jobs for fear of what will happen to their children’s education and how the family will be able to feed. Fear of the unknown has kept some singles in relationships that they should have broken long before now. What this thing does to us is that it unconscious takes over our mental freedom and instead of thinking about the way out, we keep thinking about how to stay safe in our security zone. At the end of the day, the mental freedom we have lost will translate to physical bondage!

What exactly is ‘fear of the unknown?’ I think a nice way to break down this parlance would be to pick two key words and they are ‘fear and unknown.’ We have heard so many people talk, preach and write about overcoming your fears but so many people just cling to their fears without knowing it! When we say ‘fear of the unknown’ it means there is also ‘fear of the known.’ Under fear of the known, you will find cases where people are afraid of darkness, afraid of water, afraid of heights and so many others. Under fear of the unknown, we can then say people are afraid of what can happen to them that they do not know about. We can also say that people are afraid of how their future turns out if they take a step away from where they are. There are people who already have a comfort zone where things seem to be working perfectly well but deep within them, they know they can do a lot more or they know they have more potentials locked up within them. Some people want to stay with their fixed salaries instead of stepping out to do that great business on their minds. They do not want to take the risk of not having regular income or having to wait for so long in some cases before money comes in.

If we are going to be real with ourselves, each time we say we have not done something because of ‘fear of the unknown,’ it simply means we do not have another plan or have not been able to come up with another plan. Fear of the unknown means I have to stay here because I have not been able to identify another opportunity or create an opportunity for myself and move on to the next level. Fear of the unknown means ‘I am scared and do not know where to go from here so I have to bear anything they do to me!’ We need to come to terms with the fact that fear of the unknown means we are not willing to take a risk even though we have seen some of the risks that we can take.

Remember, if you stick to fear of the unknown and refuse to move on in life, that same fear will come and give you a big shock of your life in that your comfort zone. Keep moving and free yourself from that fear called unknown!

A proof of God’s faithfulness | © Fola Daniel Adelesi

Bookmark and Share

Sometimes I am tempted to look at the challenges ahead of me and some of the things I need to fix but have not been able to fix. Like every other human being, it just becomes so overwhelming when you remember all that needs to be done but have not been done. In that very moment, I just take a quick look at a few other things around me that are working and what happens to me is that I want to compare what’s working for me with what’s yet to be working. Honestly, I have more things working for me compared to the things that are not yet working and all I can say is that I am a proof of God’s faithfulness.

I have met with people from very privileged background who have access to nearly everything money can buy but I can’t say that I am from such backgrounds! Nevertheless, I have gotten some platforms to stand in front of such people to share the knowledge that I have gathered over the years and when I speak, they listen acknowledge the facts and also consult me after speaking. I have had situations where it suddenly dawns on me that a number of the people who are listening to me and also learning from me are people from richer backgrounds but I have the grace and the enablement to be relevant to such people!

At every phase in my life there have been challenges and some of those challenges have appeared to be so prolonged that you will think there would be no way out. Just before I blow the challenges out of proportion, let me quickly say that there is no phase of my life where I have not gotten a testimony to share. For many of us, life may not be a bed of roses but we still must look back for that one thing which proves that we are the proof of God’s faithfulness. We may have even been in some conditions where it looks like 9 out of 10 things have gone wrong but when we look very well at the one thing that is working, we will be able to say this one is the hand of God.

I do not just want to sound very optimistic but it will not be out of place to say that some people have died as a result of the same things that have gone wrong in my own life. Others have been battered and are not sure of standing on their feet again. Things may not have gone exactly as I planned but I am still standing on my feet. My eyes are intact, my ears are intact, my arms are intact, everything that God created with me is functioning as designed! What else is the proof of God’s faithfulness when I have gone through some of the situations that killed others?

For a moment I want my eyes taken off the issues I have not been able to resolve and just admit that by all standards, I am a proof of God’s undeniable faithfulness!

Fear of the unknown: The big corporate shackle | © Fola Daniel Adelesi

Bookmark and Share

Waking up at odd hours when you still feel like sleeping, leaving for work in the morning when your children are still sleeping and probably returning when they would have slept, leaving the welfare of your children to the hands of some strangers called house help, accepting all sorts of insults from someone who is younger than you because he or she is your boss, staying with obvious frustration in a place of work because of the peanuts someone pays you as a salary and spending your little income that is left trying to get your health back have all been attributed to fear of the unknown by a lot of people in the corporate world.

I have met with several people who are conspicuously frustrated with their jobs but they cannot leave the job because they think they will starve to death since they do not have another job to take up immediately. Some other people will see that there is the possibility of being fired from that place of work but will not make any move and just wait until they are fired before they start thinking about what to do.

For the few others who seem to be a little proactive, they have begun to think about what they can do even if they decide to resign from their present places of work but they have stopped at just thinking about what they can do! They have not taken any bold step to consider implementing what they have been planning. I have said that these ones are a little proactive because if such people get fired, the thoughts they have had on their minds regarding what to do will always be the first thing to come back to their minds. They may take it up from there and eventually do something meaningful with their time and life.

I always have a mixed feeling of anger and passion when I see people who are doing things that are frustrating them but they are still there just because of the money they want to get. I have always known that I would be a business owner so I started saying, ‘I will not hire someone I cannot fire!’ At some point when I had to do something under some people for a while, I also started saying, ‘I will never take a job that I cannot easily resign from.’ When I eventually graduated these things started playing out! I didn’t even consider taking up a job at first but after so much pressure I took up a job. I resigned my first job 3 days after I resumed! I continued with my passion – speaking and writing. I had also started my first radio show then – and I got another job about two months later. I managed to stay 3 full months on the new job before I wrote in to say that I would prefer to work on part time basis.

I think I could easily pull out of jobs to do what I really feel fulfilled doing because freedom was in my mind. When I’m talking about freedom in this case I mean I first discovered my purpose and passion. Since the discovery of my purpose and passion, I made up my mind never to take up any job outside of the areas covered by my purpose and passion. The next thing I also began to do was to brush up my skills such that I had begun to make money through my passion before I graduated from school.

So many people are stuck in the corporate world not only because of the fear of the unknown but because of the discovery they have refused to make about themselves or the skills they have refused to sharpen! What do they mean by the fear of the unknown? I think I should just write another piece on that but many people talk about the fear of the unknown because they do not have another plan for their lives outside of the jobs they have at the moment.

Fear of the unknown is about the biggest corporate monster in our world today and millions of people in the corporate world are living with it. Consequently, they allow other people determine their destinies by not taking it in their hands to do something with it.

For how long will someone else determine your destiny because of what you call the fear of the unknown?

The mockery of Jesus | © Fola Daniel Adelesi

Bookmark and Share

How have you consistently mocked Jesus in your place of work, community, social gatherings and any other places that you go to? Why would you not even stop this consistent mockery and still profess to love Jesus so much that you would always feel so guilty for not showing up in church on Sundays?

We have heard messages telling us and some others reminding us that we are ambassadors of Christ and we present to the entire world an image of Jesus. Some have not met Him before and others have only heard about Him but do not truly have an understanding of His person. In such cases, whatever we do just becomes the picture that they have of Jesus and they carry that picture all about. Some months back, I was in an event with a South African who was visiting Nigeria for the first time and had to be in Ondo state. He had seen a couple houses without proper planning, roads that should not be referred to as roads, reckless driving by some drivers who think they are smart and in the middle of it all are these excited villagers who kept waving their hands generously at every opportunity. He was amused that some of those young people who lived in such villages could speak good English and were always happy to receive them but he had a question on his mind.

When we got talking about events and places in Nigeria, He asked, ’is this – the buildings with poor plans, bad roads, no street lights and reckless driving – representative of Nigeria as a whole?’ He had obviously only passed through Lagos while coming from the airport but does not know much about the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), a body with zero tolerance for traffic offenses though with their own excesses in a number of cases. He had never been to Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Surulere and has desired to see some of our shopping malls. I guess if I never got a chance to talk to him, he would have had just a myopic opinion of Nigeria.

That narrow-minded opinion he had before meeting was not his fault! That was the picture the state he went to painted for him! We also need to recognize that we are also painting some poor pictures or even completely wrong pictures of Jesus Christ to many people who are watching us.  How can you be an ambassador of Christ and people in your office don’t have peace because of your troubles? You are the first to go for spiritual meetings but also among those who would collude to steal from the office and also supply inferior materials to your clients! Why would you profess to love Jesus, get paid for services and not render those services? Why is the balance sheet of your office not balancing all the time? Why do neighbours in your compound come to settle quarrels between you and your spouse every week? Why would you not pay your due rent for the things you are enjoying when you actually have the money? Are you not part of those diverting funds from national treasury? They even know you are a pastor yet, they still give you a cut in their shady deals and there is no conscience pricking you!

How can you be an ambassador of Christ and be consistently found amongst drunkards? Some people say the Bible only told us not to drink in excess but the Bible actually says, ‘And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit’ (Ephesians 5:18). People who want to drink just focus on the part of the drink and forget the part of being filled with the Spirit!

I think we have some good examples in the Bible from some illiterate preachers who just went about their ministry so diligently that the people who did not see them around Jesus even said they perceived that these people had been around Jesus!

We may not be perfect just yet but like Apostle Paul we must leave the things that are behind and press towards the mark. We must constantly strive to be the real model for others to get an ideal picture of what Jesus represents. The more we do or say, the more people understand or misunderstand Jesus!

Who’s looking up to you | © Fola Daniel Adelesi

Bookmark and Share

I remember that a number of times when people see others who are successful or are beginning to succeed, one of the first questions would be ‘who are your mentors or who are your role models?’ What this means is that everyone who is succeeding or has begun to succeed is looking up to someone else and learning some of life’s useful lessons from such people. My focus I this case is not about who you are looking up to or who your mentors are? The real question I have for you is ‘who are the people looking up to or is anyone even considering you as a mentor or a role model?

Many of us have mentors but are not living the kind of life that a true mentor or role model ought to be living so either by living a funny lifestyle consciously or unconsciously, we are providing mentoring for some people. What kind of mentoring are you providing for other people who are taking a clue from the way you live your life? What kind of mentoring are you providing by smoking, drinking, lying, cheating, womanizing and spending lavishly on mundane things in front of young people?

You must realize that we all learn how to live life by just living life. What it also means is that we decide what life looks like and the way it must be lived by just looking at the people around us and concluding that what they are doing must be the acceptable thing! Some people don’t even go into the morality or the ethics of the attributes they are picking from others but they just pick up the attitude by watching others and make that their life! Someone is watching you regardless of your consciousness of it and also thinks that everything you do is just the right thing to do in life! Ask yourself again, what kind of mentoring am I proffering to others? People may not be coming directly to us but they are watching from a distance and we still need to ask what kind of role models we are?

I must also talk about those who receive some mentoring and do not give back! When we begin the journey to success we all talk about the need to have mentors and role models so that we will not miss some vital lessons in life or so that our journeys can be easier. Sometimes we say that we can learn in so short a time what it took our mentors and role models several decades to learn and all of these things are true! It’s just that there is a part of succeeding and mentoring that gets to me all the time and that part is about people receiving mentoring and are not working on mentoring other people.

If others have taken their time and resources to pour out into your life so that it can be a meaningful one, you have to start a conscious effort to pour out into the lives of other people as well. It’s not how much mentoring we are receiving that will count at the end of the day! It’s the result we get through the mentoring and how much mentoring we in turn do for others that will count!

You need to do a proper scanning of yourself and ask, ‘what are those things that I do that my secret or distant protégées are picking up even when they don’t know why I am doing them?’ Don’t get trapped for misleading others! Lead right, because you are leading knowingly or unknowingly!

Why you are going through some of these things | © Fola Daniel Adelesi

Bookmark and Share

When I was much younger I didn’t like the fact that some people could not just leave me the way I was without hurting me or at least getting me angry. They did all sorts of things to me and made me react – so I thought – to everything they did. I did not want to react the way I was reacting but I found out that I was constantly in a position where someone would not just allow me be alone. They would just do something even when I didn’t want to get into trouble with anyone. Sometimes, I would react and then go back to think. I would desire within me that I get the capacity not to react to the things they were doing to me but it just appeared difficult! The more I tried not to react the harder it seemed!

At some point as I grew older I realized that what the people were doing to me was not the real issue. The bigger issue was about where I was going in life! It’s not the same thing that happens to everyone in life! Some of the things that happen to us and also happen to other people also happen in varying degrees and I found out that your destination in life will ultimately determine the size of what you are experiencing right now!

I can confidently say that if you have some big issues to deal with, it’s because you have a big destiny! Sometimes when people want to abuse you verbally, they will stop at small words because they know such small words will quickly get to you! If they know that small words no longer hit you hard, then they graduate to using bigger words! It is the same thing in life. When you really have a big picture in front of you then you should expect some big challenges because life naturally does not want you to arrive at your desired destination! It’s going to be your responsibility to fight through and get to where you are going in life!

When you seem to be going through a financial crisis in life, it may be because of where you are going to in life! When people around you treat you like trash, it sometimes can be because the devil has seen where you are going and he just needs you to react unreasonably to what someone’s saying about you so that you can be hindered. Some people think they are the ones fighting you but they don’t know that the devil had a plan to fight you because of your destiny and they are just playing out the devil’s plan!

When I came to this understanding, I naturally stopped reacting to just anything! I have come to the understanding of the fact that some people are just playing out the devil’s plan against me. He’s just looking for something to hold me back so that I will not get to my destination. But with my understanding and my eyes on the bigger picture, people just keep trying to fight me and also do all sorts of things but on the long run, they are the ones who get frustrated because I didn’t fall for their trick.

Don’t fall for the devil’s trick against your big destiny! All the fighting, the blackmail, the office politics, losing your jobs, issues in your marriages, challenges with your businesses are just strategies to get you off balance so that you can take your focus away from the bigger picture of your destiny!

Everything fighting you because of where you are going in life will soon realize how you have outgrown them when they fight and you just don’t react like a baby with no control over her emotions! Hold your head high, walk straight and keep your focus because the bigger picture is your destiny. Don’t get distracted by what people do or don’t do to you! You need to learn that sometimes when people help you, it’s because of your destiny. When some also refuse to help you, it’s because of your destiny!

You should do some of the things I do in some cases. When people talk to me the way I don’t like or some issues just crop up I just say, ‘I know where I’m going in life. That is too small to distract me. This is happening because of my destiny!’

Don’t let the little foxes destroy you. Your destiny is really a big one and that’s why some of these things are happening to you!

Shake well before using! | © Fola Daniel Adelesi

Bookmark and Share

A couple of days back when I was reading through some messages on twitter, I saw a message from Pastor Rick Warren which was simply a quote from most of the medicines you can buy from the drug store. It message was ‘shake well before using’ and what made it so important at that point was that Pastor Rick said it suddenly occurred to him that’s what God does with all the people that He wants to use! God shakes people well before using them!

I have bought a number drinks from the stores and I always see that message asking me to shake well before using but never thought about the fact that God also shakes us well before using us. As soon as I saw the tweet the picture on my mind was how I used to shake some of those drinks before opening them and it really got me thinking about some of the things we are going through in life! We have to be sure if it’s God’s shaking that we are in which is meant to prepare us for his assignment! Just as many of us will not use those drugs without shaking or open those drinks without shaking, it is important to note that God will also not use us without shaking us.

Just recently, I had to work with an online marketer to promote an account and the young man in question told me, ‘I have tested this one and that’s why I’m recommending this plan to you.’ The person who was to get the main benefit from the promotion wanted something more than the promotion could offer but the other plan this person wanted had not been tested and we did not recommend that plan. Just as we did not recommend what we had not tested, God will also not introduce what He had not tested. He wants to be sure that what He’s putting out there is the best for the time and the best for the assignment.

If we want to be used of God for the mighty works that He wants to accomplish, we have to prepare ourselves for his shaking because He’s really going to shake us before using us. Some of us need to come to an understanding of where and when the shaking is taking place so that we do not just take God’s working for granted or even run out of it because of pressure! Sometimes God uses our places of work to shake us by putting us under a difficult boss. He wants us to learn how to withstand pressure and still forge ahead in life. The boss may think he’s giving you a tough time but he does not know that he’s helping God to refine you to become who God wants you to be.

For so many others, the shaking we are going through is the rejection that we get from the people who seem to have all it takes to assist us and are just not assisting. God wants to show us that we are going to strip ourselves of all mental and physical dependence on some people so that He alone can provide true and lasting wealth or other provisions as we may need them in life.

Waiting can seem very simple but also a very hard thing and that’s really the shaking that some other people are going through in life. You may have heard it so quick at every phase of your life in the past and God is trying to slow you down in order to teach you a lesson. If you don’t learn that lesson of waiting for certain things right now, you will go through life with the wrong impression that everything must come in a jiffy and there would be no need for waiting. At the end of it all you will find out that you have little or no preparation for life because you don’t know how to wait!

Why do you think that the manufacturers of products even say, ‘shake well before using?’ I realized it’s because some of the ingredients of the products – and sometimes the most important ones – would have settled at the bottom of the container. If you take the products like that then you will not get the full benefits of the products so it is important to shake! The same thing applies to human beings! Some potentials have gone dormant or have not been activated at all and be the design of our creator, we are not supposed to go through life without those potentials in their active mode so God shakes us to get those potentials functioning! If we function without those potentials, we most likely would be malfunctioning!

Go through God’s shaking and be the best!

The good part about being a child in your adult bodies | © Fola Daniel Adelesi

Sometimes I look at children and it’s just amazing how they live a very simple life of innocence filled with hope for the future about things they don’t know how they even want to achieve! A child can wake up, walk up to the mother or father and ask for anything regardless of the cost! A child can dream in a very big way without thinking about the limitations to be encountered as a result of trying to achieve the dream. The minds of children are so pure that they cannot understand impossibilities or limitations. They don’t know what can be done or what cannot be done!

Children do not know about people who make them the focus of gossip so they are just not bothered. You need to see them talk so freely about their dreams, goals, desires, cars they like and the houses they want. They probably don’t know that it costs daddy or mummy something in order to get them what they want but their thoughts are so free from the limitations and pressures from to adults from the reality on what to pay to get the luxuries of life!

Sometimes we just need to go back to being children again and give ourselves the opportunity not to worry about anything and everything. We’ve got to have faith like children and just act like them with some of the projects we are handling! When a child wants to do something, the child might have said what needs to be done before figuring how it could be done!

Life is so simple but only children truly understand that because they do not live with the burden of social pressure – the need to get a house and later a bigger house, the need to just have a car and later the need to have a bigger car, the need to become respectable and the need to be financially independent!

It’s a very good thing to think about being responsible and get ready for all the challenges that come with being responsible but the fear of failing ourselves, the society and friends keeps us constantly under pressure!

Does your baby in the house worry about the food to eat? Does your child worry about paying school fees? Has your child ever worried about some of the big dreams they open their mouths to talk about? Many of us had big dreams when we were young and we expressed our dreams freely but as we grew older, we began to see what some people call realities and unfortunately allowed the realities take the place of our dreams?

I’d really like to maintain some of the childish optimism – sincere belief that things can work without any special attention going to the potential challenges – that I had as a real child. When we stop the totality of being children in our hearts, we lose our hope and pave way for hopelessness simply for acknowledging challenges more than we recognize possibilities! Take back that part of your childish heart that just dreams and believes but pursue the dreams like and adult!
