Prayer & Praise bring divine intervention | © Fola Daniel Adelesi

Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church – Acts 12:5

In the book of Acts we see so many things that can challenge our faith. These were things done by the apostles and we need to not only read them but do the same thing so that we can get the results that they got.

After all, Jesus has said that if we believe, we shall do greater works than what he has done and what the apostles did in their time will be nothing compared to what can be done in our days.

We can see in the text above that the apostles were able to secure divine intervention through prayer. James had just been killed by Herod, the king. The bible also records that this wicked act of the king pleased the people so the king wanted to do the same thing again.

This time he went after Peter but there was Passover to be observed. You can say there was a public holiday so the King wanted the execution done after the holiday. All through this period, the church did not keep quiet. The church was in constant prayer for Peter.

You need to know that there was no one who could deliver Peter from the hands of the king if God did not do it. There was no law or human being or sound argument that would make the king change his mind. It was a condemnation to death and no appeal could be filed. In this circumstance, the children of God cried out to God and see what God did in verses six and seven of Acts chapter 12.

And when Herod was about to bring him out, that night Peter was sleeping, bound with two chains between two soldiers; and the guards before the door were keeping the prison. Now behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the prison; and he struck Peter on the side and raised him up, saying, “Arise quickly!” And his chains fell off his hands. – Acts 12:7

What this means is that God responded to the prayers of the church by sending angels into maximum security prisons to bring out his apostle. Today, I pray that God will divinely intervene in your situations in Jesus name. No one could have brought Peter out of that situation! Whatever situation of life that you are in which is not pleasant, God will send angels to deliver you in Jesus name.

There was a similar situation in the book of Acts 16:25. The Bible says, ‘But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.’ They combined praying and singing even though they were in a difficult situation.

The interesting thing is that the Bible did not say exactly what they were praying about. If I am to make a guess, I would definitely not say that they were praying to be released. Why? If someone is praying to be released, I don’t think the person would be singing while still in prison. I would think the person should get out of prison before singing but while they were praying and singing, God divinely attended to their situation.

Your divine intervention can be secured. Don’t only hope for it and wish for it. Begin to pray and also sing about it. I pray that as you sing to the Lord and pray to Him, His miraculous intervention will come into your situation in Jesus mighty name.
