Why has love become so scarce? │© Fola Daniel Adelesi

We need to ask ourselves questions on why love should now be a very scarce thing to find when we actually need love to survive! You can look around you and tell easily that people do not love themselves anymore! What you see around is just plain deceit from one person to the other. Even when you find groups of people that are supposed to be bound together in love, they are honestly bound together in deceit. You will always find one person who is supposed to be watching your back but is actually watching out for your downfall and just waiting for the next opportunity to bring you down and take your place!

In the case of love between a man and a woman, you tend to easily find men or women who fall in love for the potential material possession they can get from each other or some other obvious benefits that will invariably get to them when they succeed in claiming that they love a particular person.

Why are people killing each other when they belong to the same country and we are supposed to live together like brothers and sisters? We used to have problems like white folks killing the black folks or the other way round but in this case it’s not even an issue of racial discrimination! We have people who belong to the same country and they are killing themselves for not being in the same tribe. We also have those that are referred to as the same tribe and within the tribe they are also killing themselves for not speaking or originating from the same lineage that speaks the same dialect!

There are tons of questions in my head and I am also wondering where love has gone to. What happened to love? Was love chased out by the wickedness in the heart of men? Did we just silence love for the lust and the greed that we have for mundane things and material possessions? Where is the bond of unity? How come we now talk about love as though it were a stranger in our society? Love used to live with us! Love was our friend and was everywhere we went! In fact, love was in us but what exactly has happened that we just do not have love anymore?

We need to watch out carefully for that society and those people who even live without love or those who claim to fall in love but just waiting for the other to die and take over some possessions. I think it is the absence of love that has also made some people become politicians and all they can ever think about is how to amass wealth for themselves and never consider the fact that they were appointed to serve some people and they need to be selfless in serving those people! It is the absence of love that will make some people embezzle the pension funds of old people! How can you deep your hands into the funds of old and retired people if you want to really have a good future in your old age?

Something has really gone wrong that we all need to figure out because until we do we may not be able to fix any other thing in our society! I think I need people to help me answer these questions and I would like to hear from you or what you think happened to love. So tell me, why has love become so scarce?
