Your calling and your instructions | Fola Daniel Adelesi
When God gives a man a calling, it is mainly a couple of instructions put together that we now call a vision guiding that persons life till the person dies! When God called Moses, the vision he first saw was to get his attention after which God gave him several instructions regarding how to save the children of Israel and take them from Egypt into the promised land.
After Moses died and God chose Joshua, it was a couple of instructions that became his calling and guided him all through his life time. When God created Adam and Eve, He left them in the garden with instructions on what they could do and what they could not do. The list of the several people God has called goes on and on but one thing that remains constant in all the calling despite the fact that there were different circumstances leading to the calling is the fact that everyone was given specific instructions.
At a point in time God decided to destroy the entire world but Just wanted to preserve a few people to stand as a link between the old world and the new world primarily for the purpose of procreation. He chose Noah and gave him specific instructions regarding the ark he was to construct. Another thing I also remember was that after god had approved Aron as a priest to assit Moses, the garment Aron was to wear was designed by specific instruction from God.
So whats the main point or why am I laying emphasis on specific instructions? When you receive a call from God, there are certain things you cannot do again and even the things you can do are things that cannot be done anyhow. Others can decide to live their lives anyhow but it will never be so for you because you are on a call from God and you have to follow specific instructions from Him.
This issue of calling and specific instructions from God explains why we who are called of God cannot marry just anybody, take up just any kind of job even though we are qualified, go to any kind of place that we so desire or do whatever we please with our lives.
If you choose to marry anybody, that person may not be in line with the calling of God that will help you achieve the calling over your life. If you decide to take any kind of job, you may take a job that will give you all the offers of this world and take your calling away from you. You may be taking a job because you have to fulfill your financial obligations but at the end of the day, you would have your calling absolutely defiled and neglected. When you also choose to go to any place of your choice, you may have gone out of Gods coverage area for your calling. It means you have no authority in that area and you are no longer receiving Gods backing.
We must be very careful about the things that we do because when God calls us, He does not work anyhow. Our God is a God of pattern and this is evident in all that He does and in the way He relates with people who have been called. We have no choice but to rest His patter. His word in John 15:16 says, I have chosen you. Ye have not chosen me In this case, God is clearly the caller and He also clearly decides how the assignment must be carried out. You cannot carry Gods call and tell Him how you want to go about it! If it is Gods call then it must be by Gods instructions!
