Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God – John 3:5 KJV.
The core of the message that Jesus preached while he was here on earth was the Kingdom of God. If we therefore declare Jesus as our Lord and saviour, it is very important to pay attention to whatever he talked so much about.
In John Chapter 3 we saw Jesus talking to one of the religious leaders who was expected to know so much. He was supposed to be respected by all the religious people because of his status but when he began to speak with Jesus, he himself found out he wasn’t even a candidate of the Kingdom of heaven.
Jesus began to school this religious leader called Nicodemus and to show him the kingdom of God and the prerequisite to enter. Jesus made it clear that for anyone to enter into the kingdom of God, the person must be born again. In John 3:3, the Bible says, ‘Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.’
In John 3:5, the Bible also says, ‘Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.’ Now the point is if Jesus was saying this to a man who was not just a religious leader but a big one, then we all need to examine ourselves to be sure we are in the kingdom.
When Jesus tells a religious leader to be born again then you need to know that you could have been attending church for donkey years. It will not count and that does not get you into the kingdom of God. Your activities may be well recognised but the prerequisite for the kingdom is not hardwork in God’s vineyeard. Hard work through service to God will yield rewards but we must be sure we have met the entry requirement into the kingdom.
Many people have gotten used to being in church and they think they are automatically a part of the kingdom. No, you are not automatically part of the kingdom until you have examined yourself and you can confidently say that you are born again. Until you can say that you are born again and have renounced your old ways, you are not yet a part of the kingdom of God.
It will be a great thing for us all to access the Kingdom of God and God has made that easy for us. Examine yourself today. Are you sure you are born again? Have you confessed Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour? Have you repented of your sins and asked Jesus to forgive you? These are the first things that must be done in order to enter into the kingdom of God.
If you haven’t started this process, start now so that you will not miss out in the Kingdom of God. As you make up your mind to access this great Kingdom, God will help you in Jesus mighty name.
