At the beginning of every year it always seems there is so much time. Then you blink and there are a few months left in the year. You wonder what happened to all that time that seemed so much or too much. Well, it passed. The problem is not that the time passed. The problem might be how you let it pass.
Let’s not dwell on the regrets of the past if the time gone by in the year wasn’t well utilised. Now is the time to focus on how to utilise what’s left in the year. At the beginning of the year, many people usually have a lot of goals on their plate and it always appears there is enough time and there will be enough resources to accomplish those desired goals.
Now is not the time to look at all those goals and start wondering how many of them can be achieved. Now is the time to narrow your focus to either one or just a few that you can channel all your energy and resources towards in the barely sixty days left in the year.
With the little time left, what do you want to achieve? Usually when a long distance race is about to end, the smartest athletes start focusing on finishing well. From the beginning of the race, the focus would be to stay in the race and maintain a good pace. Once the race is about to end, the focus shifts to picking up the pace, outsmarting other athletes and picking up a medal.
Now is the time to decide if you want to go after a business deal, proposal or a job. If you run a business, pick one goal that you want to achieve before the end of the year that can help you say this business ended well this year.
Whatever it is that you do, pick one thing that can give you joy on the last day of the year when you retrospect.
Narrow your focus and get your much needed results before the year is over.
