Testimony delivers expectations | © Fola Daniel Adelesi

David said, The Lord Who delivered me out of the paw of the lion and out of the paw of the bear, He will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said to David, Go, and the Lord be with you! ~ 1 Sam.17:37.amp
The story of David and Goliath is probably one of the most common in the Bible and many of us are familiar with it. Nevertheless, it always has new lessons from new dimensions. This time we will see how something David did delivered the expectation of the whole nation of Israel.
Before the verse above, the giant sized man had come to terrify the army of the Lord for 40 days. The whole nation had a great expectation of being able to kill this giant but didn’t know how to do it. In order to even encourage some brave men to face this giant, the king promised riches and tax exemptions to whoever is able to fight this giant and win.
Interestingly that ‘reward’ promised by the king could not motivate anyone to go forth and deliver the expectations of the whole army in the nation of Israel. But something different happened when David who was considered and adolescent visited the camp of Israel.
His own brother had tried to shut him down. The King also tried to show David the profile of the giant he was offering to fight. Isn’t that what many of us are doing today? We tell people about how big our challenges are. We show them the serious problems we are in. We magnify, as much as we could, so others can sympathise with us, the issues we are facing.
The king said to David this man has been a warrior since his youth yet the expectation of the whole Israel was that someone who fight and win in order to deliver Israel from this reproach. David was not moved by the profile of this giant. He simply gave them the profile of his God. He started by testifying to what God had done for him before.
David called Goliath and uncircumcised Philistine. He bragged about God and I believe that as David bragged about God, angels were swinging into action to prepare grounds for victory. Or that they carefully chose the stones David would use. David got ready and picked five smooth stones ~ He probably thought if he tried the first few ones and nothing happened he would go on until the fifth one.
Guess what, he did not need the fifth one because testimony had gone ahead of his effort. He had bragged about God before facing the situation so the first attempt delivered the expectation for the whole nation. If only you will first testify to all that God had done for you, you will realise He has not lost the capacity to do even more.
Maybe you are thinking your expectations will be met in some years to come or you think it will really take some time. Well, when you brag about God and move his heart with your testimony you may not have to wait for too long to have your expectations delivered no matter how great they are.
Testifying about God’s deeds is one way to brag about him and magnifying His person is another way to brag about our God.
Do you want your expectations delivered? Remember David prepared five stones but the first one delivered result. Just brag about God in the face of that situation and you will even put in less effort for more results. I pray that as you testify of God’s deeds in your life and talk about his mightiness your greatest expectations will be speedily delivered.
